BUILDING YOUR HOME

With lath on the exterior, and insulation on the interior, the finish work is initiated.

Application of drywall

Drywall is applied throughout the house, including the garage.

The drywall process is accomplished in three steps. The first step consists of attaching the sheets of drywall to the frame with screws. Following that, tape is applied to the seams and "mud" is spread over the joint and allowed to dry. A final step is sanding and reapplication of mud where necessary. A final sanding leaves the walls ready for priming and paint.

Preparation of foam detail

Foam detail is being prepared for installation under the eaves. Strictly for looks and it must be done right!

Application of browncoat

The browncoat is applied after the drywall is installed. The drywall installers could cause mechanical damage to the browncoat.

The final stucco will be aplied following a three week curing process for the underlying browncoat, and application of a primer to the cured browncoat.

Installation of interior doors.

The interior doors have been selected by the owner. A large variety of styles are available from vendors recommended by Pearce Construction.

Interior doors are ordered "pre-hung." The manufacturer installs the door in a jamb prior to delivery. This insures a square opening with a perfect fit. The finish carpenter shims the jamb to vertical and secures it to the opening.

Installation of hardwood floors.

The hardwood for the floors is delivered and allowed to acclimate. The entire supply of wood for the floors can be seen in the background in the great room.

After installation, the hardwood floors will be allowed to further acclimate in the installed position. After cabinet installation, the floors will be sanded and finished.

Sanding the hardwood floors.

Sanding is a multistage process. The equipment used is designed for this purpose only.

All other finish work is curtailed while the final floor preparation is underway.
